Almost nobody knows that Swiss farmers are exporting
tobacco. The temperatures in Switzerland are high
enough to grow tobacco plants in Switzerland.
The biggest part of this tobacco is worked into cigarettes,

can be exported more and more.

The fever of Panini stickers has started again! For the

Panini stickers — an understandable fact, as Switzerland

In the last weeks, Swiss cheese gained some
important results. The first concerns Gruyere
the cheese from Gruyere: The Swiss delegates
for European Union have submitted an appellation
for protection of the label within the whole European

Tête de Moine have a new collaboration with
a research institute that helps to produce bacteria

Dual visa for Switzerland and Austria
For Euro 2008, Switzerland and Austria have
agreed to make a dual visa. Football fans can
watch games in both countries: Switzerland and
Austria with just one visa. Austrian authorities will
pass these special visas. This has special
arrangement had to be undertaken as Switzerland
won’t be part of the Schengen contracts yet.

Swiss Researchers in Genome finding
The book of life of human beings was published
in 2003. The genome, was said, includes around
30’000 genes but this number had to be shrunken
to 20’000–25’000. Researchers from Swiss
universities of Lausanne and Geneva have also
contributed to the results with long-term studies
during three years. The aim was to find the active
parts of the genes, so called exons. For 80 percent
of the genes were found new exons.

The weekly magazine “Cash” will no longer follow
its print medium with tradition. As the first Swiss
media agency, Ringier will introduce a new
combination: “Cash daily” with “cash.ch” and
cash mobile will be the new product mix.
“Cash daily” is already available today as a
free daily newspaper. People who have still their
subscriptions can choose from a broad palette of
other magazines.
